Marlow
Careful, capable, and firmly committed to the rules—apart from a few compassionate interpretations. He shares Samuel’s cart with Brisk and keeps two journals: one for the route, and one for everything the route owes him.

A world built one sculpture at a time
Across Mosshollow, giant snails carry traveling merchants between woodland settlements. Every route leaves a record. Every village adds a story.
A note from the historian
It is one old region within it: forest roads, river crossings, working settlements, and places the sensible know not to enter alone.
The animals here build, trade, keep records, and remember. This archive follows their routes through sculpture, field notes, and the stories gathered along the way.

Merchants, quartermasters, couriers, and one extremely food-motivated mode of transportation.
Careful, capable, and firmly committed to the rules—apart from a few compassionate interpretations. He shares Samuel’s cart with Brisk and keeps two journals: one for the route, and one for everything the route owes him.
Hundreds of years ahead of him and never in a hurry. Samuel chose his cart at bonding and has since learned that slowing down is an effective negotiating tactic when snacks are late.
Decides what every cart carries and notices every missing crate. His lists have lists. His only known vice is lollipops—lavender, preferably, because he insists they help him remain calm.
If Docket knows exactly where something ought to be, Ricket is probably already inside the wrong crate looking for it. Enthusiasm has never been the problem.
Ramsey travels with Edmond, the oldest known giant snail. His cart rarely trades; it carries cartography tools, food, and enough supplies for routes that may change without warning.
The oldest known giant snail and the least predictable. Edmond gets confused, changes routes, and was once presumed lost until ravens began reporting sightings from across Mosshollow.
Marlow’s counterpart on Samuel’s cart. When Marlow’s three-month route ends, Brisk takes over and Samuel keeps moving. Brisk will move almost anything for the right price—especially if black walnuts are involved.
Wink sits at the head of the Brotherhood. She is remarkably sweet, patient, and easy to underestimate—until she isn’t.
Thyme lives in Briarwood, where her strawberry pie has earned a permanent place in at least one merchant’s journal.
Very little has been entered into the record about Rosemary so far. What is known: her huckleberry jam is worth remembering.
The archive expands as new inhabitants are sculpted and documented.

Raccoons · Rats · Ravens
Rats manage the depots. Raccoons travel the roads. Ravens carry the warnings, news, and changing conditions that cannot wait for the carts to arrive.
The seventh rule is printed with particular confidence.
